Street Fighter: In-Depth
The movie is set in 1993, the golden age of arcades. Ryu and Ken were once inseparable, but now old wounds keep them apart.
Then the mysterious Chun-Li shows up. She recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a brutal clash of fists and fate. However, a deadly conspiracy hides behind the tournament. As a result, the two friends must face each other and their past demons.
The cast is truly explosive. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, while Noah Centineo takes on Ken Masters. Callina Liang is Chun-Li and David Dastmalchian is the fearsome M. Bison. Moreover, you’ll find Jason Momoa as Blanka and Roman Reigns as Akuma. Finally, 50 Cent is Balrog and Orville Peck is Vega.
Dalan Musson wrote the screenplay. Judging by the trailer, the tone mixes martial arts, spectacular action and plenty of humor. In fact, the movie puts the tournament and the saga’s fantastic side front and center.

Origins
It all began in 1987 with the first arcade Street Fighter. First of all, you could only play as Ryu and Ken. Moreover, some cabinets had huge pressure-sensitive buttons: the harder you hit, the stronger the attack.
Then, in 1991, Street Fighter II arrived. Now you could pick among eight World Warriors, each with a unique style and special moves. As a result, the game sparked a worldwide fighting game boom. Interestingly, combos were born here too, from a bug the developers chose to keep.
In the following years, the saga kept growing. First came the prequel series Street Fighter Alpha. Then Street Fighter III introduced the parry, the genre’s flashiest defense. Meanwhile, the legendary Evo Moment 37 in 2004 turned the parry into myth.
In 2008, Street Fighter IV revived the genre with 2.5D graphics. Then Street Fighter V pushed online competitive play into the spotlight. Finally, in 2023, Street Fighter 6 reinvented everything with Capcom’s RE ENGINE.
Therefore, after the movie, it’s your turn to grab the controller. Did the film fire you up? Then pick your fighter and step into the ring.
